Our Weddings - Kweku and Laurie 10th Wedding Anniversary

Planning and coordinating Laurie and Kweku's 3-day ten year wedding anniversary celebration in September 2019 was an absolute honour. They hosted their guests from Ghana, United States and the United Kingdom in Cape Town at two beautiful boutique five star hotels located in the trendy suburb of Green Point within an easy commute to the V&A Waterfront and the famous Camps Bay and Clifton beaches.

The first time I met Laurie in person, the impression I was Ieft with was of a spirited, confident, graceful woman with a huge smile, brilliant sense of humour and kindness personified.  Laurie was introduced to me almost a year prior to their destination 10 year wedding anniversary to be held in Cape Town as a symbolic gesture of returning to the city where they got married.

Our sometimes bi-weekly interactions were always filled with humour, laughter and kindness. It's almost a year later and I still miss our conversations and planning and Laurie's quick wit and sense of humour!

Laurie and Kweku invited every guest that first attended their wedding and some new friends they had made a long the way. To say that the weekend was filled with love and laughter, sophistication, grace and elegance, would be an understatement.

The weekends celebrations began with a private welcome dinner at Chefs Warehouse located on the magnificent Beau Constantia wine farm. Chef Ivor Jones created a delicious bespoke 5 course tasting menu with paired wines and DJ Peekay, Laurie and Kweku's favourite London-based DJ entertained guests with his soulful jazz and blues mix. The evening coincided with Kweku's birthday adding an extra celebratory flair to the evening! Laurie and Kweku looked gorgeous in their well-paired outfits with love and adoration clearly evident by the way they just looked at each other.

Kweku and Laurie's anniversary dinner held on Saturday evening was a themed Moroccan soireé held at the luxurious Pentagon villa with sweeping vista's of the ocean and the Twelve Apostles. Guests arrived in a swathe of luxurious silk and satin sari's and were welcomed to the beating rhythm of Moroccan drums and calabashes.

Adorned with golden henna tattoos during the pre-dinner welcome drinks and canapés, guests watched the sunset across the Atlantic Ocean listening to the upbeat tunes of Cape Town's premier Jazz and blues band, The Black Ties.

Dinner, a festive Moroccan feast served in 4 courses was a bright and colourful affair made even more sensational by the arrival of Moroccan belly and fire dancers who enraptured guests with a  dramatic fire show and graceful belly dancing.

Guests danced the night away under the stars to the eclectic sound of DJ Peekay's international music mix.

Sunday's farewell lunch hosted at the Twelve Apostles hotel was a nostalgic event taking Kweku and Laurie back full circle as they were married at this beautiful property.
