Our Weddings - Risto & Louise joint 100 birthday celebration

We had the honour of conceptualising and planning a very unique and special joint 100th birthday celebration for our Swedish clients. Risto and Louise met and fell in love in Cape Town and moved here a few years ago. Many of their friends had not been to South Africa or experienced the beauty of Cape Town before and their wish was to showcase the best of Cape Town to their friends.

The brief we received was to create a uniquely chic South African weekend for their closest friends and family who flew out from Sweden for their birthday celebration.

Guests arrived on Friday morning and stayed at the Cape Grace Hotel in the V & A Waterfront for the first night of their Cape Town adventure. Friday nights dinner was held at their friends exquisite home in Vredehoek where Risto and Louise were first introduced to each other. The Field Kitchen prepared a sea food and traditional South African braai and guests were entertained by the soulful jazz tunes of Buddy Wells whilst dining el fresco.

Their friends enjoyed a day of leisure on Saturday and could chose between relaxing at the pool at the Cape Grace or a cultural visit to Cape Town's newest art museum the Zeitz Mocaa.

On Saturday afternoon family and guests were transferred to The Conservatory in Franschhoek for Risto and Louise's chic African dinner.

Vitimarimbas played lively tunes while guests mingled, had their faces painted and sipped on delicious cocktails.

Slippery Spoon Kitchen devised a magnificent South African influenced menu which paired perfectly with Risto's carefully selected dinner wines. During dinner guests were surprised by a moving performance from the internationally acclaimed South African Youth Choir

Diners revelled the night away to DJ Shaun West and the fabulous George Sax!

After a night of great music and dancing guests were transferred to private houses in Pringle Bay,  an area loved by Risto and Louise.

For lunch, guests were invited to Risto and Louise's holiday home on the beach where The Field Kitchen prepared a seafood extravaganza, vegetable shots and some strong coffee!

We loved working closely with Louise on this very special celebration and are incredibly grateful to all the suppliers involved who helped make it a memorable and special weekend.

A special thank you to Jana from Scape Events for her hard work and beautiful styling,  Johnny and Marius from Slippery Spoon for the delicious cuisine and Phil, South African Youth Choir for the fabulous entertainment and hard work to teach the choir to sing "Happy Birthday" in Swedish!
