" We had a fabulous stay at PenHill, surpassing all expectations. The house was magnificent and very comfortable, the garden absolutely lovely, the staff friendly and discreet, and Nola indulged us with her delicious food and warm spirit. We loved the flexibility and will definitely be back soonest. "

" I chose Penhill Manor as the venue for an important event – a 50th birthday celebration weekend where at least half of the guests were flying in from the UK to be there. It had to be special and it had to be beautiful and preferably a part of the world that a well-travelled group would appreciate. And Penhill certainly delivered. Fabulous location from a natural beauty point of view, accompanied by really great accommodation. Practically it worked excellently as we took over all the cottages and had the run of the place – pretty good thing that we didn’t have neighbours on our “Night of the Famous Dead” Halloween party on Friday. More than that though, everyone had a great room, most en-suite, and the décor and understated elegance of the place as well as the history of some of the areas was appreciated by all. Because we were a large group I outsourced the catering of all meals with the help of Penhill and that also delivered. Nola and her team delivered high quality food for everything from light breakfast to formal sit down dinner. Romano and the team at Penhill also sorted out everything very smoothly – from taking delivery of and chilling the large quantity of wine brought in, to laying out the croquet pitch and fixing up the few more energetic amongst us with bikes. All in all, there is plenty to do at Penhill and some nice things to do nearby. Oh and the website photos don’t do it justice. Try it for yourself….. "

" We had the most amazing time at Penhill this past weekend. I was joined by 18 friends and everyone was so blown away by the farm and all it has to offer. “Unbelievable”, “Absolutely Stunning”, “Astounding”, “Amazing” were some of the words used and many more compliments. Copious amounts of Pimm’s and wine was consumed and we hiked, played tennis and took numerous swims in the beautiful dam. Romano and the staff were fabulous and Romano took lots of photographs. I will round some up through friends and send through a couple through. Thank you for the opportunity to stay there, we will definitely book again! :) "

" Thank you so much for the most amazing weekend we had at Penhill Farm. It is the most amazing house, the setting is just awesome and the staff brilliant. It was freezing cold - snow all around us, but with the fire going and the great tennis, we all had a marvellous time. I shall recommend Penhill to anyone that needs a break. Thanks again "

" I just wanted to say a massive thank you for our weekend away! It was by far one of the most wonderful places I have stayed! The attention to detail was brilliant and the setting is spectacular! Not to mention Romano who could not have been friendlier! Will recommend to everyone and certainly be back soon! "

We’ve scoured South Africa and further, so that we can bring you only the best places that ooze personality, that are situated in spectacular locations, that make you feel good to be there and that promise an unforgettable escape.
In the style of a classic Cary Grant and Grace Kelly movie Helen and David Untiedt met and fell in love in Monte Carlo… she a travelling English rose and he a young man from Johannesburg, hell bent on leaving the big city behind and sailing off in search of adventure. And what a place to begin a life together amid the glitz and glamour of the yachting fraternity, the gamblers and the glitterati.
Opulent Monte Carlo can overwhelm with its grand architecture, flashy hotels, fast cars, expensive boutiques and Monégasque (a mix of French and Italian) culture, food and language. But luckily having day jobs (as well as down-to-earth personalities) meant that instead of getting lost in the racy materialism of the international jetset, they were able to step in and out of the madness whilst still observing all!
From the South of France they travelled, mostly working on chartered yachts between Europe and the USA… spending time in the Spanish Balearic Islands, sailing through The Caribbean, taking on New England in a sportscar, crossing California and Nevada, exploring New Orleans and even dropping into Venezuela.
On their travels they witnessed the highs and lows that come with being on the road (and sea). They know that it takes a little time to appreciate a truly special holiday moment isn’t necessarily defined upon opening the doors to a luxury suite… but can be found eating roast goat cooked outside a beach shack with a rag-tag bunch of locals.
Which brings us to Cape Town where Helen and David have been living for 12 years raising their four children. Largely chosen for its beauty and because it’s one of those unique places on the planet that encompasses an incredible and interesting diversity in culture, language, food and style: a land that at one time is wholly African but also borrows much from foreign shores, making it a great place to start a business centred around dream locations.
