" This charming little farm is cradled in the arms of the Wellington mountain range. Here you will feel embraced by nature and charmed by the original and eccentric décor. A wonderful weekend get-away which does not stint on comfort and beauty whilst still keeping it rustic and real. We had the most wonderful workshop weekend away and came back inspired and recharged by the peaceful energy of Little Farm. "

" We had hardly arrived before the fire was on, the lights dimmed and us snuggled down to a cozy evening. It felt like we had come home! An awesome weekend for my teenagers exploring the river and mountains and for me de stressing and feeling entirely spoiled by the scenery and lavish furnishings. "

The Little Farm - Wellington
Shaded by a copse of white birch and with a central pool fed by two tinkling mountain streams, The Little Farm is absolute heaven in hottest summer. Hidden on a farm in a valley at the foot of the Hawequa mountains in Wellington and barely an hour out of the city, it doesn’t take more than a few minutes for the hum of cicadas, the sound of rushing water and the loud greetings of resident geese to help shake off urban stress. What’s so idyllic about this property is that the layout is perfect for large gatherings of family and friends.
The two farmhouses are set in an L-shape, with one on the same level as the pool and the other up a few steps, but both overlook the entertaining area, which is great if you have children as it’s easy to keep an eye on them. The upper house sleeps 12 in five bedrooms (two are family suites with upstairs mezzanines) with four bathrooms, each with quality linen and the softest bamboo toweling. The main house sleeps four in two bedrooms. The farmhouse-style living area breathes style and warmth, with original art, vintage collectables, antiques and good books to enjoy, while the open-plan kitchen is always a gathering place for friends to chat to while tasting local wines bought from surrounding farms that day (there’s an excellent selection of wineries dotted around the valley). Lunch is easy here – tumble outdoors for a meal of Mediterranean simplicity with feet dangling in the crisp mountain water or sink deep into the sofas on the stoep.
-sleeps 12( 4 people in the main house and then an additional 4 bedrooms and a lounge in the lodge)

For those who’re looking for some quiet, the upper farmhouse verandah is long and cool, with each of the beautifully conceived French-style bedrooms leading off it, but the boma area beyond the pool has plenty of deep-cushioned Adirondack chairs that beg relaxation for hours on end while kids go off on their bikes or take a walk near the stream to find blackberries with the friendly farm dog in tow. The fairy lights will begin twinkling, and the fire will be lit by the late afternoon. Alfresco meals are the way to go here (there is a small indoor table that seats four just off the kitchen in a lovely sun-filled conservatory area) with enough homemade tomato loungers for teens to gather and chat, dinner is laid out either under the trees or on the stoep. For sundowners, a ride up the mountain behind on the quad bike takes you through the buchu fields to a spot where the views stretch forever.

We’ve scoured South Africa and further, so that we can bring you only the best places that ooze personality, that are situated in spectacular locations, that make you feel good to be there and that promise an unforgettable escape.
Perfect Hideaways has a portfolio of farms, villas, houses, cottages and boutique hotels – each unique, each with huge character and each handpicked because of their individual beauty, quirks and charm. Perfect Hideaways wants to take you to a place that appeals to your every sense… transport you to a world away from the one you know… and match you to your ideal getaway.
The Perfect Hideaways team travels far and wide to find extraordinary holiday and weekend escapes for fellow escapists. Neverending country vistas, rugged coastlines, pristine beaches and mountain views. These are part and parcel of life in South Africa and what better way to experience them by getting away for two or perhaps ten nights to a beautifully designed, comfortable and inviting space?
The Perfect Hideaways team spends a large part of the year scouting new locations and out-of-the-box havens they know their clients will love. Places where lying in a hammock all day is encouraged, where the kids can run barefoot and free from early till sunset, where nights are about stargazing and the days for as doing as little or as much as you like. All in achingly beautiful surrounds.
Now with over thirty extraordinary holiday escapes on their books, Perfect Hideaways has honed their recipe for success. They love unusual destinations, places like the quaint properties they represent in the tucked away village of Churchhaven or the exclusive stone built house hidden in a kloof in the Karoo - each chosen for their design, location and thoughtfully appointed interiors with all the luxury details to ensure guests’ comfort at every turn. Most importantly the spaces created have a sense of soul –that special something that ensures you’ll want to come back again and again.
Owners David and Helen Untiedt started Perfect Hideaways five years ago and in this time have visited hundreds of properties all over the Western Cape and surrounds to see whether they have that X factor. They love combining easy living with luxe details and their attention to creating places where guests want for nothing is part of their success.
You can be guaranteed that every single property in their repertoire is extraordinary. Visit Waterfall Farm, a working farm with a sprawling farmhouse and accompanying stone cottage and spend your days lolling about in mountain stream fed rock pools. Or book a holiday at the Beach house in Brittania Bay, drinking in the brilliant ocean views from the sheltered stoep. There are city properties, seaside spaces, country idylls and river view escapes waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated. And each of them has the Perfect Hideaways stamp of approval.
